Wild Wednesday - Essie's e-nuf is e-nuf

Hey Readers, I hope your Wednesday is going well.  After getting through my last exam, I can finally see the end of the scholarly tunnel.  With this said, I thought I'd show you one of my favourite colours.  I am a sucker for glitter, pastels, and brights but this colour has a special place with me. Whenever I need a pick me up, I put on this polish and it makes me smile.

This colour is Essie's e-nuf is e-nuf.  It's a creamy coral that works well as both a colour for manicures and pedicures.  What I love is that it's not a red that's in your face but bright enough for spring and summer.

The application of this polish is a dream.  With a good base coat, two coats of Essie's e-nuf is e-nuf coverage is perfect.  In order to bring out the shine, I used one coat of Essie's good to go.  I was surprised that Essie's good to go caused no shrinkage and my nails were completely dry in under five minutes.

I also find that this polish is very durable and can last a solid seven days on my fingers with normal everyday activities.

Is this a colour you would choose for this season's manis and pedis? Have you tried e-nuf is e-nuf? Let me know what you think?

Hope your Wednesday is colourful!

Trendy Tuesday- Finger Paints' Electro-Midnight

Hi Readers! So today I'm focusing on my last exam, or at least trying to.  By this time tomorrow I'll be done my last exam and I will only have one project to finish and then I can finally say I've completed by BSc in environmental and resource science.  It's time to graduate to bigger and better things.  Not going to lie, this will include more school starting either in May or September.  Learning, it really never ends.

Anyways, today I'm bringing you a new trend that I'm a little slow catching onto: magnetic polish.  Today's magnetic nail polish is made by Finger Paints.  Electro-Midnight caught my eye because it is a rich deep blue that also has a nice shimmer to it.  I picked up this polish on my recent trip to Sally Beauty where they were having their buy two get one free sale.  Honestly, it was the 3-for-2 sale that justified my purchase.  Up until now I haven't been sold on magnetic polishes.  I felt that they were really gimmicky and way over priced.  Well, lets just say that Electro-Midnight completely changed my perception of magnetic polishes.

I really was impressed with the coverage of this polish.  It only took one coat but the coat had to be rather thick to maximize the magnetic effect.  There aren't many polishes out there that I can say truly cover in one coat therefore I was blown away.  Though I must say, this polish takes a long time to put on because after you put polish on one nail, you must hold the cap over the nail for 15 seconds to create the wavy pattern.

With practice, this became easier to do but the first time I tried this polish I became totally frustrated.  Anyways, once the technique is mastered, the patterns turn out really well.  It's really nice that the magnet is in the cap so that you won't lose it but there is only pattern available.

Finger Paints offers four different colours of magnetic polish.  They are available for purchase online through Sally Beauty or in their retail stores for $6.99.

Have you found a magnetic polish that you've fallen head over heels for? Let me know!

Have fun polishing!

Mani Monday - China Glaze Prism

Hi readers! Hope this brightens up your Monday morning.  This weekend I made a trip to my local Sally Beauty and picked up some neat polishes that I'll bring showing you this week.  First off, I just wanted to let you guys know that they are still having their buy two get one free sale so it's a perfect time to pick up a few new polishes.

So this weekend, I picked up China Glaze's Prism.  Prism is from the Prismatic Chroma Glitter collection (Spring 2012). As a glitter addict, this was a must have.  I thought that it had the greatest variety of colours compared to the other polishes in this collection.   This polish is a solid mix of ultra-fine purple-pink glitters along with larger hexagonal multi-coloured glitter pieces.  I was truly impressed with how densely packed this glitter polish is.  For the pictures, I used two coats of Zoya's Sadie and then two coats of China Glaze's Prism.

Throughout the application I was impressed with how it went on.  It naturally dispersed the glitter evenly and it only took two coats to get superb coverage.  Prism does require two good coats of top coat to get a nice smooth finish (I'm really finicky with finishes so I always use two coats of top coat on top of my glitters).  In order to make removal easier, soak a cotton ball in acetone, place it on top of the nail, and wrap the nail with tin foil.  Let this sit for a good 5 minutes and it will make removal a breeze.

Honestly, I really like now this polish turned out though it is hard to capture the duo-chromatic properties of this polish through pictures.

Let me know what you think! Have you fallen in love with glitter polishes? What is your favourite glitter>

Keep on polishing!

Happy Friday! - Essie's Turquoise and Caicos

Happy Friday the 13th readers! I hope luck is on your side.  This crazy week is finally over for me and I am happy to present another true beauty from Essie.  Personally, I have always been a big fan of Essie.  It`s what brought me into the world of nail polish and I have never been disappointed.

I picked up this colour on a recent trip to my local Trade Secret.  I had originally been looking to buy Essie`s Mint Candy Apple, but I found myself drawn to Essie`s Turquoise & Caicos.  This colour was originally a part of the Resort 2010 collection.  I like the fact that it`s a darker than mint candy apple and I feel like it really fits in with this seasons colours.  It`s almost a exact match to the colour of  a Tiffany box and who doesn`t like a nice Tiffany box.

Though many people complain about the application of Essie, I found that with two carefully applied coats, coverage was excellent.  After an additional coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri anti-chip top coat, this polish was dry and ready to go in 5 minutes flat.  It`s a amazing colour for spring that I think will work perfectly for the summer as well!

What do you think? Will you be adding this colour to your collection?

Have fun polishing!

Happy Hump Day - China Glaze's Electrify

Hey readers! Hope you're having a great Wednesday.  My week has been crazy.  I'm in exams right now with some major assignments due tomorrow! Anyways, last weekend I went to my local Sally Beauty Supply because they're having a buy 2 get 1 free sale which completely sucked me in.  As a result I have a few new polishes to review for you guys.

Today I chose to do a unique mani with China Glaze's Electrify from the Hunger Games Specialty Colour Collection.  To be honest, it was the only one that really caught my eye from this collection.  It is a glitter polish with a clear base. There are little gold and red circular glitters that are densely packed throughout this polish.   I really feel like this is a nice and dramatic glitter that would be well suited with Christmas colours but I'm a die-hard glitter fan so I don't let seasons dictate my choices in polish.  Anyways, this week I've been a little tired of solid glitters so I decided to switch it up.  For this manicure I used two coats of Essie's Over the Edge as my base colour and one coat of China Glaze's Electrify on the tips of my nails.  I'm super happy with how this turned out.  Once again, pictures never really capture the true brilliance of glitters but I am really in love with Electrify.  The coverage is excellent and it went on beautifully.  It's a perfect consistency and the glitter spreads evenly.

I think this polish may may reappear in combination with other colours throughout this summer.  What do you think of this colour? Are there any polishes that you would like to see reviewed?

Have yourself a happy hump day!

Welcome! - Zoya Kissy

Welcome to my blog! This is a little bit of a stretch for me as I am a super sporty chick who's just fallen in love with nail polish!  Anyways I hope to use this blog to review some nail polishes and to expose people to some up and coming nail polish brands.  I'll be posting bi-weekly and I hope you will follow along.

Zoya's Kissy is a dark pink glitter polish from the gems and jewels collections that came out during the holidays of 2011.  It is a clear polish base that combine bar glitter with purple, pink, and red hologram particles.  I used two coats of Zoya Sadie as a base colour and two coats of Kissy.  I really loved the thickness of this polish and it went on quite evenly. To bring this polish up to the current trends, try using it on top of Zara's Lara polish from the Beach and Surf collection that came out for summer 2012.

Zoya is a 4-free brand meaning its better for you and better for the environment!  Though this nail polish may feel rough at first, after applying two top coats it will feel as smooth as a baby's bottom.  A tip for getting glitter polish off: soak cotton balls with nail polish remover, set it on top of the nail, and then wrap with tin foil.  Let it set for five to ten minutes and voila! the nail polish will come off quite easily.

Zoya Kissy is available through www.zoya.com, Trade Secrets, Sally Beauty Supply, and through many online ratailers.

Have fun glamming it up!
