Nail of the Day - OPI Just Spotted The Lizard!

Happy Thursday everyone! It's almost the weekend again which means I'll be in Lake Placid soon.  This is a great thing because I'll be able to pick up some polishes that aren't available to us Canadians.  I'm also hoping to be able to pick up some nail art supplies so my nail art will quickly improve.  Anyways, like I mentioned yesterday I picked up OPI Spider-Man mini-collection on a recent trip to Toronto.  This mini collection comprised of four of the seven wonderful colours.  I was a little sad that these minis didn't include Call Me Gwen-ever.  But alas, I am very excited to talk about this collection.

So the first colour that I'll be talking about is OPI's Just Spotted the Lizard.  As described by OPI, it's a reptilian yellow-green.  Honestly, I would describe it as a golden-green chrome with teal and green duo-chrome.  Just Spotted the Lizard has a shiny metallic finish that is very prone to brush strokes.  I also found that this polish was quite thin and took three coats to get good coverage.  I would recommend using this polish over top of a white in order to get the best coverage.  Like many polishes, I recommend a high gloss top coat to really make this polish pop.

I also love the fact that this polish is an exact dupe of Chanel's PĂ©ridot.  Though I have nothing against Chanel, I am currently not in a place to afford Chanel nail polish.  I have always been in love with this colour so I was very excited when it became apart of the OPI Spider-Man collection.  If you want to see a picture comparison, check out Scrangie: OPI The Amazing Spider-Man Collection post.  She gives a great side by side comparison.

Overall, I was very impressed with this first colour.  In my opinion, it's a must-buy.  This colour is an awesome metallic that is very different from the other colours that we have been seeing this season.

I picked up this set from Trades Secrets for $14.99 or you could buy each colour individually from $9.99 Canadian.

So what do you think? Is this a colour that you will be picking up?

Keep those fingers pretty!

Happy Hump Day - China Glaze's Electrify

Hey readers! Hope you're having a great Wednesday.  My week has been crazy.  I'm in exams right now with some major assignments due tomorrow! Anyways, last weekend I went to my local Sally Beauty Supply because they're having a buy 2 get 1 free sale which completely sucked me in.  As a result I have a few new polishes to review for you guys.

Today I chose to do a unique mani with China Glaze's Electrify from the Hunger Games Specialty Colour Collection.  To be honest, it was the only one that really caught my eye from this collection.  It is a glitter polish with a clear base. There are little gold and red circular glitters that are densely packed throughout this polish.   I really feel like this is a nice and dramatic glitter that would be well suited with Christmas colours but I'm a die-hard glitter fan so I don't let seasons dictate my choices in polish.  Anyways, this week I've been a little tired of solid glitters so I decided to switch it up.  For this manicure I used two coats of Essie's Over the Edge as my base colour and one coat of China Glaze's Electrify on the tips of my nails.  I'm super happy with how this turned out.  Once again, pictures never really capture the true brilliance of glitters but I am really in love with Electrify.  The coverage is excellent and it went on beautifully.  It's a perfect consistency and the glitter spreads evenly.

I think this polish may may reappear in combination with other colours throughout this summer.  What do you think of this colour? Are there any polishes that you would like to see reviewed?

Have yourself a happy hump day!
